New Huangpu Signaling Financial Industry Policy Support

Following the Nanhui district's entry into Pudong New Area, the Luwan District and Huangpu District merger plan of Puxi in Shanghai was officially approved by the State Council recently, and the two districts jointly constituted the great Huangpu District.

Rumors turn into reality: merger of two districts in Luwan and Huangpu

It was reported in June 8th that Luwan District was merged with Huangpu District and named after Huangpu District, which is the second time in Huangpu District.

Last time, Huangpu District incorporated the southern urban area into itself.


The two districts belong to the "pocket city" of Shanghai. The former area is 12.49 square kilometers, and the resident population is 429 thousand and 900. The latter area is 8.03 square kilometers and the resident population is 269 thousand and 400.


For the reasons for the merger, official materials pointed out that the adjustment of administrative divisions in the two districts is conducive to the reasonable scale of the jurisdiction of the central city of Shanghai, which is conducive to optimizing the layout of urban functions and improving the efficiency of administration.

Another core of the center?


For Huangpu, the financial sector has always been the focus.

Huangpu has a large number of offices near the Bund, with complete supporting facilities, which are very attractive to financial enterprises.


Official data show that in 2010, Huangpu District added 25 billion 775 million yuan to the financial sector. At the end of the year, there were 366 financial institutions.

Even in Pudong, there were only 649 financial institutions in 2010.


Luwan's integration into Huangpu will further increase Huangpu's attractiveness to financial enterprises.

Luwan District World Expo Park has a large number of land available for development, which will provide huge space for creating "the belt".


The two district is so merged that it is considered the same as joining Nanhui into Pudong.


In fact, the original Huangpu is also the "belt" in the layout of "one city and one belt" in the construction of Shanghai's international financial center, that is, the Bund, while the "city" is Lujiazui (600663, stock) of Pudong.


The merger, along with the great Huangpu along the Huangpu River, will further become another core area for the construction of Shanghai's financial center.


Puxi reconstruction


The integration of Luwan into Huangpu means that Shanghai will further increase its support for Puxi.


At the beginning of Pudong's opening up, the decision makers were trying to build Pudong to "fight to the west", but Puxi didn't lead to it.

Since then, the development of big Hongqiao with the same weight as Pudong is another great development of Shanghai's development, which may profoundly change the development pattern of Shanghai.


This merger highlights the adjustment of Shanghai's regional policy instead of Pudong's Puxi, but the development of Puxi.


In fact, Uranishi Shizuku, Xuhui, Huangpu, Luwan and other areas are very well-developed businesses, once they are given bigger ones.

Luwan and Huangpu District have many famous commercial outlets. The merger will surely become the most developed commercial center in Shanghai.
