Overview of Lithuania


Its land area is 65 thousand square kilometers, located in the Middle East of Europe. It borders Latvia on the north and is adjacent to Belarus in the East and the south.

According to the statistics released by the Lithuania Statistical Bureau in January 28th, the GDP of Lithuania in 2007 was 96 billion 676 million Li (27 billion 999 million euros), an increase of 8.7% over the previous year, and the average GDP per person was 28632 (8292 euros), an increase of 9.3% over the previous year.

Among them, the industries with higher contribution to GDP growth are agriculture, construction industry, wholesale and retail trade, etc.

Data released by the Lithuania Statistical Bureau in January 9th showed that Lithuania's imports from China continued to grow rapidly in the 1-11 months of 2007. The import volume from China was 1 billion 586 million Li (625 million US dollars), an increase of 37.1% over the same period last year, accounting for 2.8% of total imports in Lithuania, an increase of 8.7% over the previous year.
